This is a still photo from a video interview that was created by LPB sometime between 2005 and 2008. I was being interviewed about the role of the visual arts in New Orleans. I need to look up the air date, and will try and find a link to post here.
I am sitting in the 1st floor gallery where lights and cameras were set up specifically to illuminate this conversation. I was very honored that I was invited to speak, and came down from the painting studio where I was teaching at the time to follow through with the planned discussion. My late father was standing in the doorway behind the interviewer. He was watching and noting the first time I was asked to speak independently of his voice in a professional setting.
