This is a photo of My father, sister and I at the Governor’s Mansion during the Foster Administration. Indra and I often accompanied our father on trips to Baton Rouge either together or separately while he was working on the mural there. I remember Governor Foster bringing me back to his office to show me the paintings he had. It was a wonderful collection which included many antique pieces.
During this time of my life I was working in the Art Conservation Studio of Richard White. My years working in his studio gave me an additional understanding of antique oil paintings, picture frames, and surfaces. I eventually decided not to pursue art conservation as a career and applied to the Museum school in Philadelphia. I moved to Philadelphia to attend the Museum school of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts shortly after this photo was taken. I remained there until completing my graduate degree.
